If you're into fishing, and many CRC residents are, you need to be aware of a very unique, and educational, enterprise located adjacent to our community at the east end of Trout Place Road.
Located on the banks of the Chattahoochee River in Forsyth County, the Buford Hatchery allows visitors to take self-guided tours to view five hundred thousand trout being raised to stock Georgia’s designated trout fishing waters.
Rainbow, brown, and Georgia's native Brook trout can be observed in various states of development from fingerling size to a full 10" or 12". The hatchery is a fun and informative environment for the whole family.
Established in 1976, the Buford Trout Hatchery is operated by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources (Fisheries) Division.
HOURS
The Buford Trout Hatchery is open daily from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.
Weekends & Holidays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
NATURE TRAIL
The nature trail is no longer open as it is a bio-security risk.
RIVER ACCESS
Trout anglers can park outside the hatchery gate along Trout Place Road and walk the Bowman's Island trail around it's perimeter to fish in the Chattahoochee River behind the hatchery.
